The brief was to maximise the corner site and extract ITS FULL POTENTIAL. Capturing views were of a high priority as was a maximum return for the site. A high level of design and a strong sense of identity within the streetscape was desired by the client.
The site is an elevated corner block with potential to capture both town and ocean views. The neighbourhood consists of a variety of built forms including some historical buildings and other non-descript forms. The sites proximity to the town centre and the beach make it significant lifestyle property.
A carefully considered response to both the site and its surrounds has created a design which shows respect for the past whilst reinterpreting for a contemporary future. Maximum use of the site has been achieved with a total of six units, yet not at the expense of the occupants where privacy and views have been retained. A positive aesthetic contribution has been made to the streetscape.
