A limited budget, an established site and a high quality result…
Privacy, environmental consideration and neighbourhood integration were all requested for this development which aimed to blend with nature, while creating a new look for occupants.
The existing site has a variety of established native trees that were to be retained. In addition, there was already an established neighbourhood character which consists mainly of weatherboard cottages with an underlying rural theme to the town. The ability to obtain views to the mountain and the northern exposure were also of great importance.
A successful design has been created. The design has been responsive to the site in retaining the existing vegetation and integrating its colours and forms into the overall aesthetic. Views have been framed with varying window compositions and the neighbourhood character has influenced much of the design. This can be seen in the material selection of colorbond steel which is a reflection of the rural building materials of the area.
